What is coretec flooring made of

All coretec core materials are recyclable at the end of their lifecycle.

The core is made from

  • Recycled Wood Fibers
  • Bamboo dust
  • Limestone
  • virgin PVC
  • Cork

- The core provides warmth, sound absorption, and comfort underfoot. It is also naturally resistant to odor-causing mold and mildew, making it a healthier choice for your home.

- COREtec is a coreless core flooring system of multi-ply construction consisting of the following layers: the COREtec core of medium-density fibreboard, a moisture barrier, and a wear layer. The multi-ply core is composed of melamine resin.

- The core of cork underlayment comes in a variety of core thicknesses of 3/8th, 1/2th, and 5/8th. The core is between the wear layer and moisture barrier layers.

- COREtec core is flame retardant, so COREtec core does not require an underlayment to reduce fire risk.

An additional underlayment can attenuate room noise inside the room and between floors.

Coretec flooring problems

Although COREtec floors are made from 100% virgin vinyl and do not contain any fillers, their strength is compromised by the manufacturing process. Coretec planks do not have a hard plastic UV coating on top which most other brands do. This makes Coretec flooring more susceptible to scratching than most other brands of flooring.

  • COREtec Flooring can Scratch
  • Installation over radiant heat problems
  • Bouncing/Separating Planks
  • Floor cushioning problems
  • Peeling and curling issues
  • Gaps between the planks
  • Not an eco-friendly flooring option
  • Manufacturing defects

Another typical Coretec problem is the possibility of gaps appearing between two adjoining floorboards. These flooring planks can shrink or expand depending on temperature and humidity.

Over time, this natural process will leave gaps between boards which could lead to discoloration in high traffic areas.

Before COREtec floors, manufacturing companies would coat the planks with a protective plastic UV coating before shipping them to distributors.

However, Coretec decided this step was unnecessary and wasteful as it added extra weight and expense to their product.

Their research has shown that few buyers care about flooring strength and no one complains about scratches on their floor.

Can I Install COREtec Waterproof Flooring in the Bathroom?

Absolutely! COREtec Waterproof Flooring is an engineered luxurious vinyl product. It is a hundred percent waterproof, so it`s in particular remarkable for high-moisture degree rooms, like baths or kitchens.

The first thing to do before installing any flooring in a bathroom is to read the manufacturer's installation instructions that come with the product. All COREtec products come with a warranty and installation instructions that should be read and fully understood prior to beginning the flooring installation.

The most common way to install engineered luxury vinyl plank (X-Werks) is using an underlayment system like DRIcore LX, LX Locking, or LX Solid. This intersection of different materials allows for proper moisture drainage.

One of the best components to DRIcore LX is how it's made with high recycled content, so not only will your floors be waterproof, they'll look great and feel good too!

When installing COREtec Waterproof Flooring, you can also choose NOT to use an underlayment system by pulling up the pre-attached pad or using a moisture barrier. Be sure to follow the instructions on how to do this.

After reading through all of the instructions, make sure you have everything you need to begin your installation. Have a pencil and paper available, with a calculator if needed.

You'll then want to measure each room that is going to have COREtec Waterproof Flooring installed. You'll need to know how many square feet you are working with, to how many planks that equate.

Make sure the floor is clean and dry before you begin laying out your planks. Take note of how boxes are marked for how they should be laid out on the floor.

Once the plank is attached to the floor it cannot be moved, so make sure you have a plan before getting started. You'll need to make sure that any cuts made are straight and square, as this will help how well the seams on your floor lay.

Typically COREtec Waterproof Flooring Installation should take approximately two hours per room. If you are doing the installation yourself, it's important to be patient and have a lot of time.

It can take longer when you factor in how accurate measurements need to be with cuts and also how straight seams need to be.

If your floor is very uneven or not completely flat, you may want to consider hiring a professional installer. In most cases, a professional installer will have experience with how to deal with these types of things.
